Focaccia Bread

For this week’s meal prep I wanted to challenge myself to make something new and making bread is definitely a new experience for me. It is important to challenge myself even if it means second guessing how much oil to use at every step only to not put enough at the end. My roommate and I made this recipe together and it turned out amazing. I ate it for breakfast on my way out the door, as a snack with some oil and balsamic vinegar and I used it to make myself a sandwich. Overall this recipe was very successful and delicious. We chose to add rosemary and flaky salt to the top and I would highly recommend it.

For my sandwich meal prep I used fresh focaccia bread, prosciutto, lettuce ( but I would have used arugula if I had it), brie cheese, honey and balsamic glaze. As always feel free to add ingredients that you enjoy.

This recipe relates to many school topics both indirect and direct. Learning how to do something for the first time can be intimidating. I was second guessing myself the entire time and I now feel as though I’ve built my confidence which is important to young students. It also worked on my communication as I felt we were using too much oil and my roommate didn’t think there was enough. We had to communicate and research to decide how much to use. Finally it relates to math when using fractions and you could go into the history behind bread as a fun social studies lesson.
