Weekly reflection 8

This week we did a very interesting activity on padlet in our small groups. We split up and we had to look at the technology that is available to us in our practicum placement districts. I am one of the 6 students that will be teaching in Tanzania this year so researching technology took a different approach for me. We have found that during this process, we will not be able to heavily rely on technology. From the little information we have been given, we are under the impression that students will not have access to computers and there is a chance we will not have access to a projector. This has made looking at technology difficult for us, yet I am interested to see the views that students have on technology there and how it might differ from here in Canada. In the grade 6 curriculum that we will be following, students have a tech course that they take and we unfortunately did not get assigned to teach this class. I would be interested to see what content they teach in this course and if they use resources such as minecraft education or scratch. If we have access to technology I would love to use kahoots in the classroom or even set up an email pen pal with a classroom in Victoria. For my link to practice I was in a grade 5 class and would love to be able to use this opportunity to have these two classes be pen pals. Although, because we are there for a short amount of time, we would have to rely on technology to communicate instead of sending letters. We have also been given access to the textbooks so we can start lesson planning and I have included the link below. Unfortunately I do not think we will be able to use technology beyond the basics yet I am eager to learn from this experience.
